UPCOMING AWARD NOMINATIONS

Remember that we make NOMINATIONS at the General Meeting for Officers and Honor Awards. Please look over the criteria for the Honor Awards before you make a nomination. Nominees for the Officer must give their consent before they can be nominated.
 

NOVICE OF THE YEAR:

This award is for the new sailor. The criteria which should be considered is that the person should have been sailing for less than one year.  This has been defined over the last several years to mean that the person sould have been a member of the club for less than a year.  In addition, the person should have shown a willingness to accept responsibilities in promoting club activities and have demonstrated improved sailing abilities through successful competing of major and minor sailing activities both lake and offshore. 
 

 
 CRUISER OF THE YEAR- 

Chilton O’Brien Memorial

This award is given to the person or persons who actively participate in the cruising program of PAYC. This person is recognized as promoting PAYC not only in the Club but in other ports as well. The person or persons should also be recognized as a sailor.
 

YACHTSMAN OF THE YEAR:

Requirements for this award include a high level of participation in various club activities. The person should have demonstrated sailing skills and ability through successful completion of both major and minor sailing activities. The ability to get along with others and a willingness to accept leadership roles in promoting Club activities is also necessary.
 

JOHN BLAIR MEMORIAL:

This award is for the person or persons who have provided outstanding service to the Club.
 

RACING CREWPERSON OF THE YEAR:

Given to the person who crews in many races either as a crewperson on their boat or as a "fill-in" on another boat. The person should demonstrate ability and skills in handling sails in various weather conditions. They should exhibit a positive attitude toward the skipper and crews of other boats, an ability to withstand the harsh atmosphere of a racing boat. The person should also be willing to return time and time again in order to develop winning skills required by a winning crew on a winning boat.
 

CRUISING CREWPERSON OF THE YEAR:

This award is for the cruising crewperson who actively participates in the cruising program of PAYC. They should exhibit a positive attitude toward the skipper and this person should be recognized as promoting PAYC not only in the Club but in other ports as well.
 

MARINA REPORT

Attention PAYC, if you plan to attend the Cheese Burger party at the screen house Saturday please let Pam know, so that she will have enough Cheese Burgers for everyone that attends.  You can reply to this email or call at 985-5737 to make your reservations.  Hope to see everyone there Saturday at 6:30 pm at the Screen house.  Don't forget your Island Attire.

P.S. The dinghy race will be resceduled for a later date,to prevent a conflict with the Island Cup Regatta.  Sorry about that dinghy racers 

     A $34,000 contract to repair the unsightly bulkhead on J finger has been awarded. Construction should begin soon. The bid opening for the channel dredging project is scheduled for July 17. The PIC plans to call a special meeting for July 18 to award the bid. The marina sign hasn’t been installed on T.B. Ellison yet, but there has been some activity in the area.
 
 

BOAT CLEANING SERVICES

Tired of spending your weekend time cleaning your boat while your friends to sailing? There is a new service here on the island. It is Boat Cosmetiques!  They will clean your boat inside and out, polish your chrome or stainless, and vacuum your carpet and furniture for a very decent rate. Even the windows will be clean! They can even do the wood inside and out and leave you a little Stickup that makes things inside your boat smell nice.
