Son 'nets' mom for visit
Jim Clark, owner of Netscape Communications Corp., flew into Plainview-Hale County Airport on Tuesday for a visit with his mother, Hazel McClure, while his Falcon 50 plane was refueled at Hutcherson Air Service. Clark, a former Plainview resident, was on his way to his home in Atherton, Calif., from a private meeting with Vice President Al Gore in Washington, D.C., when he detoured through Plainview to see his mother. Clark, his mother and stepfather, Butch McClure, and the pilots of his plane had supper at Leal's before resuming their flight. A former Plainview High student, Clark co-founded Netscape, an Internet software company, several years ago. The Herald's online service uses Netscape exclusively as its browser for the Internet.
